I sound like a right selfish so and so but honestly I'm not, and I should be used to things not going to plan given the number of battles I have managed to lose through fate.
Anyway she seems to be on the mend again, until the next time, so I managed to sneak upstairs to get a few things done between chores etc. So I managed to complete this little diorama. This figure is a lovely production by F+G miniz and I had to have him.He is a lovely proportioned figure, looking very manly.I have also been working on my fencing amongst other things, and behind the figure is my first attempts at broken picket fencing. Its not brilliant but I am fairly happy with the effect.
I also have managed to nearly complete a regiment of Mississippians, but somehow only painted 23 figures. Clearly acting as a carer confused my counting abilities, so I need to find another figure to make up the unit.
I also have been putting together a unit of Texans from Steve Barber Models. I love the unit, but hate having to pin and stick them together. There is usually more super glue on me than the figures. Just prior to my latest trip to hospital I got in an ancient game with John. Now I haven't fought with Hail Cesar for well over two years, but by the end of the game [ we ran out of time ] I was once again impressed with just how good the rules are.
I took on the mantle of Hannibal facing a Consular legion, and to start with everything was actually going to plan, and I appeared to have wrong footed the Romans. Famous last words of course, as my African Veterans and heavy cavalry refused to move to help the Gallic attack. Everything began to unravel very quickly after that and a defeat was staved off by running out of time. Still a great wargame and a lot of fun.
My trial picket fencing.
Hope Carol is ok.
