You can tell that I am still on winter leave by the output of my painting and posts. Its probably just as well as my man bronchitis is a bugger to get over. Anyway I was lucky enough to pick up some pre painted French SYW figures from E Bay a couple of weeks ago. They weren't the cheapest, but I was attracted by the actual figures. After repainting them, they look very French, ie doing sod all and just standing about. I'm not certain of the manufacturer, they were advertised as Hinchliffe, but I'm more inclined to say they are early Dixon, but I could be wrong. Still they are a nice unit.
The Independent Wargames Group. Being a Journal of views, prejudices, ideas and photographs of wargaming not just nationwide, but hopefully world wide. The name IWG was adopted in the early 1980's in response to the then dominant Wargames Research Group, but things have moved on, and wargaming appears to be in somewhat of a Golden Age, so sit back and hopefully enjoy my rantings.

Those figures have me a bit stumped. The musketeers look a little like the Warrior British from the Jacobite range. A couple of the officers, who seem to be posing, look like Foundry. The grenadiers on the left are new to me, unless they are from some WSS range -- I haven't seen the Dixons from their WSS range so this could be a possibility. In any event, it is a nice looking unit. Perhaps the seller could ID the figures for you.
ReplyDeleteThey are a bit of a puzzle, I particularly liked the sappers and the fusilier figures. I think the two standard bearers are Dixon, only because their faces are very Dixonesque,
DeleteAnyway Thanks,
Robbie.
Very nice Rob.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I shall look forward to viewing them closer down the musket barrels of one of my Prussian units!
