Fame at last, local media reports a wargame show without any comedic element!

At the local Stand To show on Sunday, a very nice chap took some photographs of our game. I always refuse to allow my mush to be spread about too much, not because of modesty, more to do with my former life. Anyway, poor Neil was press ganged into doing a bit of page three work. The bloke was a reporter for the Newcastle Journal. These are images from their website. Fame at last.

    1. I dont think one can call it an article as such.......
'Stunning sets of toy soldiers proved a great attraction at a special event.

Stand To, an exhibition of war games and toy soldiers, was staged at Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon, in County Durham , on Sunday.

The event was organised by Wear Valley Gamers and was the second Stand To show at the venue.

It was first introduced to the museum’s events programme last year.
The programme featured a number of war game and toy soldier displays from local clubs and enthusiasts. There were also a range of trade stands with war gaming and toy soldier products available to buy.

A variety of intricate pieces were on show, including a range of soldiers on horseback and even vampires.
The day also included a family-friendly paint ball activity from an Army Reserves team from Bishop Auckland.'

    1. Ive copied what had been written Paul. Modern journalism is like most things now. Short, written in clipped sentences and hardly informative.

  3. Congratulations to yourself and your group. You certainly deserve credit for the game you put on.

    1. Brian,
I spoke to the organiser,' Ken' who reckoned he had definitely invited youre group through to the show. I would blame your PR man.

  5. Robbie, it was a grand day out and thanks for the game. Did you notice where you've missed a bit on the figures in the third photo? Only joking!

  6. Tyneside wargames club had a less favourable experience with the Chronicle many years ago. The article came out with the banner headline "Blood & Slaughter in the Church Hall". Owners of said Hall were less than happy.....

    1. There has always been an ambiguous attitude between the media and the wargaming world. Sometimes its just too easy to poke fun, other times they do actually do a decent report.
But then sometimes wargamers dont help, which is usually when the nutter on the bus is found to give a quote looking like they should be locked up.
