Ive managed to complete the 23rd Virginian regiment and a fine group of gentlemen they are to. They are the last of my FGZ minis that I bought sometime last year, just before they packed in. It was a real shame they stopped production because they were lovely figures. Not cheap but definitely top draw sculpts.
Im currently working on a Steve Barber unit of ACW figures that are a bugger to glue. I appear to have more super glue on my thumbs than the actual figures, perhaps dispraxia is a symptom of Covid 19?
I am fairly certain that my wife and I contracted the virus whilst in London although one will never know for certain, that is unless I do get the virus properly and it is confirmed. The reason why I say this is simply because neither of us can taste any food we prepare and eat. The latest offering which was a hot curry tasted of very little apart from extreme heat. A very strange experience, but then I have been called tasteless before, so if the cap fits. So keep at being busy doing nothing and stay isolated.
"Tasteless." You are funny in a gallows humor sort of way. I hope you and your wife and not recipients of this horrible virus.
ReplyDeleteThe FGZ figures are superb as is your brushwork. I did not know they folded. Too bad.
We wargamers are lucky in that we are capable of consuming large quantities of time in our pursuits but some of us must still punch the time clock.
Keep churning out the handsome regiments and stay well.
Thanks Johnathan, the 'gallows' humour comes from my previous life where the macabre is a coping mechanism.
DeleteNice work on the figures, hopefully everything will be ok, all the best
ReplyDeleteCheers

French Wargame Holidays
Thanks Matt, hopefully people will be moving around soon to visit your centre.
DeleteNice units, I like the bit of colour injected into the Confederates (I am just about to do some!). The hobby is in a good place, with isolation being the thing, we are lucky to have the glue of blogs to keep us all non-isolated :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm, wargaming has always helped me through all sorts of life issues over many many years now. I am very lucky.
DeleteHope you and your wife are okay , reading that many people may have it and not display any real symptoms . I to wonder how people manage without an all consuming hobby like ours .
ReplyDeleteIt must be a nightmare for millions of people who have little or no interests in anything outside of their internet accounts. Hopefully Kim Kardashian will be tearing her synthetic hair out.
DeleteTastless? You? Never. Having a hobby means that the brain is still active rather than vegetating over box sets. And you're not with your significant other 24/7. Nice work on the figures.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to potter around Paul. Ive been re-reading Oman and enjoying his account of Flodden and Pinkie. Two battles Ive never fought and probably never will. Then Ive got Duffy's latest re print to paw through and digest, life can be busy for wargamers if they are lucky.
DeleteExcellent additions! "KBO"! It's the only way!
ReplyDeleteThanks David, nice to see you still dithering about in the fresh air.
DeleteAn excellent display of nothing Robbie...
ReplyDeleteI have found that the days have passed quite quickly... I agree it would most definitely be different if I didn’t have a creative hobby...
It’s also good medicine....
Take care of yourself....
All the best. Aly
Strangely I was thinking of you the other night Aly, and in a good way. I was admiring some images of Foundry figures from the 1980's. You hide your talents really well.
DeleteNice work and hope you are both OK. We have had a few patients have the lack of taste as an early Covid symptom...
ReplyDeleteIts a very strange thing. Today my wife and I binned what should have been a decent fish pie but basically tasted of ....nothing. Happily I have much more energy now and also my temperature is back to where it should be.Sorry for that, I should be concentrating on wargames and toys.
